Admonition

Greetings from the Throne of Grace!

We bless God for making us understand how we run contrary to his purposes, most times unknown, when we “enjoy” ourselves. Many at times, we don’t often believe that those “little” things we do, sometimes in secret or even publicly, do infringe on what our God desires from us.
The truth is that the time we use in these so-called enjoyment activities could actually be used to serve one Kingdom purpose or the other. And when we refused to so do, the devil seizes them and uses them for his purposes which constitute sin against God.

Most times, we run into trouble with God when we don’t use our time for Him. In 1 Samuel 12, the Bible says, at the time when kings go forth to battle. . . But David tarried still at Jerusalem. David knew where he was supposed to be, but decided not to go. Then he took a very harmless stroll on his palace’s balcony, and the devil who was prowling, looking for whom to devour (1 Peter 5: 8), saw a ready prey in David and pounced on him. The rest was history.

When we engage in pleasures and run into sins instead of using our time for God, the following results: (1) We despise God’s commandment to (2 Sam. 12: 9) run from appearances of evil (1 Thes. 5: 22) (2) We allow enemies to blaspheme the Holy Name of God (2 Sam. 12: 14; Rom. 2: 24; Mat. 18: 7)

The consequence of this is that we incur the wrath of God (2 Sam. 12: 10 – 12) and He places a curse or curses on us, against His will, of course.

I believe every child of God who desires to FINISH STRONG must take a cue from what happened to David and not take unnecessary advantage of undue pleasures.

Till tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, keep keeping on in Him!
