Admonition
Greetings from the Throne of Grace!
The summary of what we were taught yesterday is that if we
must truly live in His presence, we must know Him individually and He must know
us. Not to know Him nor Him know us, and we continue to claim that we are His
children amount to self deceits, and such a person can never FINISH STRONG
because the Kingdom is for the children, not impostors!
Today, we go along with our Teacher, the Holy Spirit to
explore yet another implication of living
in His Presence; being at peace. It
has been observed to be true that many people who call themselves children of
the Most High live under perpetual fear and anxieties. Most times, these fears
and anxieties emanate from their lack
of knowledge of what God says about them (Hosea 4: 6; Rom. 1: 21 – 22,
28) and their inabilities to trust
God (Hebrews 11: 6) in particular situations. Another very pertinent
reason people get agitated in whatever situations is that even though they call
themselves children of God, they are more interested in the created than the
Creator (Mat. 6: 33). The implication of this then is that such so-called Christians
are not continually found in Him and
they are not acquainted with Him.
I have faced very difficult situations in life, but His
grace has been more than sufficient all through (2 Cor. 12: 9). One thing I don’t
do is allow fear and anxiety to set in because like Job, I know my Redeemer liveth (Job
19: 25), and as I ALWAYS tell people who are ready to listen, the
only time I may become agitated about a situation is when I am sure that God is
worried about that situation; until then, I continue to roll and rollick in His
peace which is not like that of the world (John 14: 27).
The Bible advises us to cast all our cares upon Him because He cares for us (1 Pet. 5:7). So, to live above the common fears and anxieties in this world and be at peace, apart from feeding on His Word, we must come to the understanding that He ALWAYS cares about us, no matter what the situation might be. We call Father, and He is worthy of that title. And He is not just a father, but the Almighty Father; the One who has ALL Powers and can do ALL things.
The Scripture says we are not given the Spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1: 7). As true children of God that aim to FINISH STRONG in Him, we need to shed off ALL fears because we have a Father who can handle ALL situations (Matt. 28: 18). We need to become like the Psalmist who declared that he was not afraid of anything or anybody (Psalm 27: 1, 3). We need to know that whatever may happen to us had first gone to the knowledge of God before they ever happened. Therefore, since God knew abput them before they ever happened, we sure need to fear them again. Remember, THE DEVIL IS NOT A LION; he is only like a lion (1 Pet. 5: 8).
This lesson will not be complete without mentioning that it is not in the power of any man to overcome fears and be at peace, all by himself. It is the work of the Holy Spirit. So, to really be at peace, one needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1: 8). We shall expand on this at a latter date.
As we close this morning, we need to know that the origin of every fear is the devil and his target is the uncommon peace which Jesus Christ gave to us, His disciples. The first thing it does is to take away our peace. If it succeeded, then we lose focus and faith in God because there is no way anyone would be fearful and still be trusting God. And the moment we have lost faith in God, God Himself is out of that situation; He leaves us alone. When He leaves, we cannot FINISH STRONG in Him because we can't do it all by ourselves (1 Samuel 2: 9b). Being at peace empowers God in our situations and enables us to FINISH STRONG.
Till
tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG
together, please, keep keeping on in Him!
N.B. Please, pray that the Holy Spirit of God will empower you from above to continually trust in God, no matter what the situation might be in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.
