LIVING IN HIS PRESENCE: You Will Be Delivered

Anchor Scripture: Psalm 24: 3

“Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?”

Focus Scripture: Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.”– Psalm 91: 3

Admonition

Greetings from the Throne of Grace!

One of the things that appall me most in Christianity today is that most of us who claim to be children of God are living in dastard oblivious ignorance. And because of that, many have willingly attached themselves to the aprons of their pastors, G.Os, Bishops, and the likes. There are even some of us who have special prophets to whom they run at the slightest itch from the devil and his agents. There are also some of us who live in perpetual fear of one thing or the other. Some Christians are, in actual fact, not under the bondage of the devil, but under the bondage of ignorance and fear.

I told us yesterday that I am a very pragmatic person and that I didn’t become a believer until I proved God, just like Gideon. I also said I would be sharing some of those moments with us on this journey of FINISHING STRONG. Here is one of such instances that proved to me that God could deliver us from anything: as soon as I gained admission into the university in 1993, I came under a morbid fear of death. Of course, I was the first person to have that breakthrough in my family lineage, and I was only a nominal Christian then. Something was always coming to tell me, especially whenever I picked my books to read: “why are you disturbing yourself reading; you that will soon die?” That voice was always coming, and whenever it comes, I will cry, cry, and cry. But one day, something just pushed me to take a Bible and read (I have never being a Bible person). And when I opened it, I opened to Isaiah 65: 20 where I read: There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; . . . .” the moment I saw this, I held on tightly to the Word, even till today. That is not even the good news. The good news is that since that day, because I have seen that truth and believed it, that was and its attendant fear disappeared and never returned till date. Halleluiah! I got delivered both from the fear of death and death itself. Since then, I have maintained that I am not expecting death until I am a hundred years and above because that’s what God promised me.

Bro. Bidemi, why this long story? I am sorry, but I am just trying to tell you that I am neither preaching nor teaching what I have not proved to be true, and the good news is that, that God who so delivered me is still alive and will deliver you, too, if you hold on to and maintain your focus on Him. The Scriptures says, “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.”(Psalm 34: 5). When you SOLELY LOOK UNTO and DEPEND ON GOD, YOU CAN NEVER BE PUT TO SHAME. That’s the plain truth. But if you keep running after a man like yourself, but deceiving yourself that it’s God you’re seeking, you will stay long in bondage because most of them see you as their own rice and beans.

Our focus Scripture today elicited hope, saying that God will deliver us. That’s the truth, brethren. See, I always tell people that the only time you will ever see me worry about a problem or situation is when God is worried about it. But if God cannot be bothered, you shouldn’t expect me to worry about it either.

Brethren, what actually delivers is the Word of God, as you could see in my own case above, not the personality of any man, whatever they call themselves. The Bible, in Psalm 107: 20 says, He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”Did you notice what the Word did there? It performed two things, healed and delivered at the same time. Don’t be surprised, Hebrews 4: 12 describes the Word as “sharper than any two-edged sword”. That is why Jesus Christ says in John 8: 32 that, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” All you need to be free from that bondage is just one Word from God, not overlabouring yourself in the name of prayers or fasting. When I was going to get delivered from my worst fear in life, I didn’t even know how to pray, nor did I know anything in the Bible. But God, by His Spirit, led me to the only ONE WORD which I needed. Mind you, I am not saying fasting isn’t good or that prayer is bad, of course not. What I am saying, in essence, is that it is not every situation that requires fasting or prayer or both as often recommended. I trust my Teacher, the Holy Spirit of God to give us room to espouse on this sometimes soon.

As we close this morning, I want you to know that God is still in the business of deliverance, and all you need is JUST ONE WORD FROM GOD, not any man; we don’t have many Elijahs and Elishas around anymore. Look into the Word of life that is able to deliver you (Joshua 1: 8).

Till tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, please, keep keeping on in Him.

N. B. Please, pray that God will lead you to the right Word for your deliverance from (mention your situation) in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

God bless you! Amen.
