HOW TO TRULY WORSHIP GOD: Be Holy
Anchor Scripture: Psalms 86:9
"All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name."
Focus Scripture: “Ye
shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am
holy.” – Leviticus

Admonition
Greetings
from the Throne of Grace!
Again, I
say, worship is central to the kind of relationship we develop and have with
God. And the kind of relationship we have with God determines whether we would
FINISH STRONG in Him or not. The ordained mission for which God called this
ministry to reach out to the world is “. . . to make ready a people prepared
for the Lord.” (Luke 1: 17) And He said we will achieve that by opening
“.
. . their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God. . .
.” (Acts 26: 18)
To be holy
is an express command from God as espoused in our Focus Scripture this morning.
However, holiness, or lack of it, emanates from our lifestyles. I once
told somebody that to and for me Christianity is not a religion; rather, it
appears to me, more of a lifestyle. A lifestyle that effects how we ought to
conduct ourselves in the world so as to be pleasing unto our Maker, to Whom we
will all return and give account on the Last Day (Revelation 20: 11 – 15). And sincerely speaking, that belief has made the practice of Christianity very easy for me.
Unlike some
preachers have made us believe in the past, holiness is not a destination, but a journey. However, the journey
requires from us, careful diligence geared towards observing, albeit
strictly, the rules of our lifestyle, bearing in mind that we MUST live to
please the Master (2 Timothy 2: 4 - 5). I said above that holiness
is a journey, not a destination because it is not what we can achieve in a
day. No one ever became a graduate the day they started schooling; it is a
gradual process. The people of my native land would say, “a lean child is not fed to become robust in a day.” The ministry
of Jesus Christ was never a “make or break”, that is why the bible talks about
feeding people with milk because they were not ready for solid foods (1 Cor. 3:
2). However, the milk has a purpose; to make us grow up (1 Pet. 2: 2). It is
when there’s no noticeable growth that spiritual dwarfism or stunted growth
sets in, that we begin to have issues of holiness.
On the
journey to holiness (righteousness), we must keep striving until our hands have
reached it, touched it and grabbed it. Apostle Paul had a fair share of this
striving (Philippians 3: 13 – 14), but the good news is
that since he, a man like us, could be sure that he attained it before he
departed this world (2 Timothy 4: 7 – 8), we too can!
I always
tell children of God not to listen to the lies of the devil as often preached
by some preachers that they cannot be holy. Examples abound, such as Noah, Job,
Abraham, of people who were adjudged righteous by God (Gen. 6: 9; Job 1: 1;
Gen. 15: 6); they were humans like us, not angels.
The subject
of holiness could be very broad, but, for now, let us know that holiness has three main components:
holiness in thoughts, words and actions. The thought controls the remaining
two and it emanates from the heart. That is why the Bible says we must guard
our hearts with all diligence because from it comes issues of life (Proverbs 4:
24) and the things that defile our holiness (Matthew 15: 18 – 20). This is
where the Holy Spirit comes in because an un-regenerated or carnal mind can’t
think and do the things of God (Romans 8: 5 – 14).
I am
trusting God that my Teacher will enable us to look into HOW TO ATTAIN HOLINESS
very soon.
Beloved
brethren, as we round off this morning, it suffices to know that holiness is essentially the absence of sin
in our lives because our God Whom we seek to worship is to be worshipped in
the “beauty of holiness” (Psalm 29: 2, 96: 9) because His eyes are too holy
to look at sin (Habakkuk 1: 13). If our aim as children of God, therefore, is to
FINISH STRONG truly, we MUST be like the One Whom we want to worship (Matthew
5: 48; Amos 3: 3). And if we really want our worship to be acceptable, we MUST LIVE HOLY LIVES because without
it, no one shall see God (Hebrews 12: 14) because that was the main reason God chose us (Ephesians 1: 4).
Till tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of
FINISHING STRONG together, please, keep keeping on in Him.
N. B. Please, pray that God will bless you
with all spiritual blessings you need to live a holy life unto God in Jesus
Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
God bless you! Amen.
