HOW TO TRULY WORSHIP GOD: You Need The Holy Spirit
Anchor Scripture: Psalms 86:9
"All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name."
Focus Scripture: “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit” – John 4: 24
Admonition
Greetings from the Throne of Grace!
One of the major burdens in relationships is incompatibility.
That is a situation where both parties share very few things in common. It is
therefore not uncommon to see such relationships hit the rock in no distant
time from their starts because of behavioural differences and the overwhelming
feelings of disappointments, both spoken and unspoken, arising from their
differences.
It is for the reason of relationship upheavals above that
Prophet Amos queried thus: “Can two walk together, except
they be agreed?” (Amos 3: 3) I want to over flog the importance of
the Holy Spirit in our Christian race, and let me say it right now that anyone
who calls themselves a Christian but has not the Holy Spirit is just
multiplying numbers in their congregation (Romans 8: 5, 8, 14). Albeit, there
are many bastards in the church today calling themselves, children of God; those are the spiritual
impersonators we spoke about a few weeks back. The unmatched importance of
the Holy Spirit to us as true children of God will make His name a recurring
index in our journey to FINISHING STRONG.
In our Focus Scripture today,
Jesus Christ again drives us to another realm of the Holy Spirit’s importance to us
as children of God. According to the Master Himself, it is not possible to
worship God without the presence of His Spirit lest we worship in vain. Then
have you wondered why “Spirit” came before “truth” in that Scripture, it simply
means that without the Spirit, there can be no truth! Without the Holy Spirit,
no man can say or do the “truth.”
The Holy Spirit it is that moves
us into the realm of the Divine ushered us into the awesome Presence of God. It
is the Holy Spirit that keeps us alive in God and ensures that our body (flesh)
is dead to sin that we may serve and worship God in the “beauty of holiness.” Yesterday, we spoke about holiness as a
prerequisite to being able to worship God. This position becomes more plausible
because God Himself, we are told, is a Spirit. It, therefore, follows that “Deep
calleth to deep . . . .” (Psalm 42: 7).
As we close this morning, beloved
brethren, the book of John 6: 63 reads: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh
profiteth nothing:” It, therefore, follows that no matter what anyone
thinks they are either by position in the church (most of which are of course
of the world), or age (which of course, God has no regard for, Matt. 19: 14;
Mark 10: 14; Matt. 11: 25; Luke 10: 21), another thing that matters in worship
before God is the presence of the Holy Spirit. Every other consideration in
worship is but for man.
Finally, the good news is that God gives His Holy Spirit to anyone who asks because it is the gift of God. (Luke 11: 13). However, the prerequisite to receiving the Holy Spirit is HOLINESS, which we discussed yesterday. This is so because the Holy Spirit of God does not inhabit filthy containers (2 Timothy 2: 20 - 21).
Till tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, please, keep keeping on in Him.
N. B. Please, pray that God
will bless you with all spiritual blessings you need to live a holy life unto
God so that the Holy Spirit of God may come and abide with you in Jesus
Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
If you are sure you already
have Him, pray that He continues to guide you in the way that you may continue
to grow in Him to the glory of God in Jesus’ name. Amen.
God bless you! Amen.
