Admonition
Greetings from the Throne of Grace!
I welcome
you, by His grace, through our Lord Jesus Christ, into yet another wonderful
week of great learning at His feet. I pray He enlightens our hearts of
understanding in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
This week’s
topic, UNDERSTANDING THE WILL OF GOD is one that is very vital in our Christian
race as a child of God, and it is very vital to our FINISHING STRONG in Him
because at the end of times, only what He had decreed shall stand. A lack of
understanding of this topic has ended many people’s Christian journeys abruptly, while
many others’ lives came to a grinding halt because of their ignorance of His
Will.
The Holy
Spirit shall use today to prepare the ground for the explosive topics coming up
under this important topic this week.
Let’s start
by asking what is a will? A will could be understood to be a wish, plan, or a
premonition that somebody has about something or another person. For example,
parents often have an idea of what they will like their children to do or
become in the future. Likewise, every individual normally has what is called
an ambition, which is their dream of tomorrow.
All these are base examples of what a will could be likened to.
God’s will
therefore is what He has planned for He has in mind; His earlier plan and or
wish as it relates to whatever we may want to link it up to. For example, the
will of God from creation is that this earth be inhabited by man. He never had
it in His plan to destroy it with water as it happened in Genesis 7 or with fire as
propounded by 2 Peter 3: 7. His initial will is that the earth be inhabited
(Psalm 37: 11; Matt. 5: 5; Rev. 21: 1 - 4).
So also, for
us as individuals, God has a plan for us which only He knows and which we too
could know if we seek His face to so know.
One thing
that is sure and which cannot be changed is as espoused by our Focus Scripture
this morning; HIS PURPOSE (WILL) SHALL STAND. That is exactly what that member
of the Sanhedrin told his mates in Acts 5: 39, the purpose of God cannot be
overthrown or defeated because He is Omnipotent and Omniscient. He is Jehovah,
the Almighty! Glory be to His Holy name now and forevermore. Amen.
As we close
this morning, let’s make mention of a number of instances when a man tried to
change God’s Will but failed woefully. Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden
tried to change God’s plan for mankind but ended up being ejected from the
beautiful Garden and with huge curses on themselves and their generations yet
unborn. Pharaoh tried to prevent the Israelites from going into the Promised
Land, but he and his host ended their life histories in the Red Sea. Balak
summoned Balaam to help him change the Will of God concerning the nation of
Israel; Israel later consumed him and his people. Jonah tried to change the
Will of God for his life, he did not only end up in the belly of a fish where
he spent three days but eventually died a very miserable man, unable to FINISH
STRONG with God despite him being a prophet of God for many years hitherto. We
could go on and on, but for time and space.
Finally,
whatever God has decreed will ALWAYS come to pass; HIS WILL SHALL STAND AND HE
SHALL DO ALL HIS PURPOSE. Therefore, if we must FINISH STRONG in Him, we MUST
be a people who recognize and respects His Will which cannot be changed,
neither by time nor circumstances.
Till tomorrow when
we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together,
please, keep keeping on in Him.
N. B. Please pray that God will forgive you
for all the times you have tried to change His Will, either for you or another
person or as pertained to any other thing which you may be aware of or not.
God
bless you! Amen.
