Admonition
Greetings from the Throne of Grace!
Most, if not
all electronic gadgets come with manufacturers’ operational manual and we
operate them based on the instructions contained in the manual. What we do when
we so do is walking as the manufacturer of the gadget. That is, we are
following the footsteps of the manufacturer without which our beloved gadget
may malfunction.
Likewise,
success in our Christian race depends on our willingness to run the race just
as the Master did. In essence, our FINISHING STRONG is dependent on following
the footsteps of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 1: 19, John 15: 5). That is why we are so
admonished by this morning by the Holy Spirit in our anchor Scripture to look
unto Him because He is the Author (He started it) and the Finisher (One Who can
perfect it).
One scourge
in the Christendom that we have to do away with today is that of men
establishing their own ways, which are either overtly or covertly at variance
with the way of the Lord, and imposing it on the people because they have a
calling from God. Supporting a position with a Bible verse does not mean it is
right or correct in the sight of God. These kinds of practices are what the Bible called the philosophies and wisdom of men which are full of vain deceits and the rudiments of this world (1 Corinthians 2: 5; Col. 2: 8). What matters is whether the Master did it or ordered us to do it.
One thing we
really have to know is that the way God does His things is quite different from
ours (Isaiah 55: 8). Therefore, most things we do and celebrate may not
necessarily the things of God.
What I have always advised is that people should
take time to study the life of the Author and Finisher of our faith (if they
truly believe in Him) and place the practices in their denominations
side-by-side with it. If they align, you are on the Way; if not, rethink.
Jesus Christ
is our perfect example (Hebrews 5: 9), no man is. Apostle Paul admonished us to
be followers of God (Ephesians 51: 1). Matthew 5: 48 asks us to be perfect as
our Father in heaven is and 1 Peter 2: 21 says Jesus Christ has given Himself
an example unto us.
As we round
off today, let us know that to really FINISH STRONG in and with God, Jesus
Christ is our ONLY STANDARD (John 14: 6). He says, “If any man serve me, let him
follow me; . . . .” (John 12: 26a).
Till we meet
tomorrow again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, please,
keep keeping on in Him!
