Admonition
Greetings from the Throne of Grace!
The actual
meaning of FINISHING STRONG is remaining standing in Him unto the end. For
every believer, that should be paramount because God is not really interested
in our starting to follow Him, but in standing in Him unto the end. Yes, the
heaven rejoices for a sinner that turns unto God, but of much more importance is
remaining abiding till the end. For myself and you that is reading this, may
the grace to abide till the end be released upon us this morning in Jesus
Christ’s name. Amen.
Looking back
connotes backsliding. That is, to stop believing and following God and His
Christ. While this may happen suddenly in the lives of some believers, in some
others’ it happens gradually and slowly such that even the victim and other
believers around them may not even notice until the evil cycle is completed and
the believer finally relinquishes their faith, and is finally lost. The latter
is very common in Christendom today; many brethren have been lost to the
devil without they themselves or other believers around them knowing it.
One major
reason noticing this is that the backsliding believer may still be “useful” in
the house of God since they still exhibit their gifts. But we should remember
that “the
gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” (Romans 11: 29) This
means that even after falling of the vine as a branch, God won’t take His
calling or gifts away from anyone. That is why even when people started living
in sin, they may not notice. We therefore have to be very careful! (Matt. 26:
41; 1 Cor. 10: 12; 1 Pet. 5: 8)
Looking back
is usually of grave consequences because it does not take past good records
into cognizance. It is the work of the devil and he is always very wrath and
rage when he gets any child of God. We are all familiar with the story of Lot’s
wife in Genesis 19: 1 – 26. The book of Hebrews 10: 38 tells us how God feels
about a believer who looks back. And verse 39 makes it clear that when people
draw back, they went into perdition. May this not be our portion in Jesus’
name. Amen. In our anchor Scripture this
morning, Jesus Christ says it all that such people who look back are not
welcomed in the Kingdom of God.
As we round
off this morning, let us prepare our mind that the race we are called to run is
not an easy one because there will be persecutions and trials for our faith. However,
we must always know that His grace is
sufficient for us. Let us brace up and not be weary. Let us always remember
to draw strength from Him via prayers whenever we felt weak.
May His
grace sustain us till the end in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
Till we meet
tomorrow again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, please,
keep keeping on in Him!
Amen
