UNDERSTANDING THE WILL OF GOD: Try These Litmus Tests

Anchor Scripture: Isaiah 55:8   For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”   Focus Scripture: “ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4: 1 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! There are many holy spirits in the world today, but there is only ONE Holy Spirit of God. I have had to argue or contend (so to say) with some people who did say that a single Scripture could have several interpretations depending on how the “Holy Spirit” interprets it to the user. Brethren, I tell you today that that is another lie that the devil is using to deceive his followers who maraud as men of God or preachers of the Word. If you ask me why I said so, I will ask you when God started to double-speak because my Bible takes a pertinent position in 1 Cor. 14: 33, saying, “F or God is not the author of confusion...

UNDERSTANDING THE WILL OF GOD: You Need the Holy Spirit

Anchor Scripture: Isaiah 55:8   For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”   Focus Scripture: “. . . even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” – 1 Corinthians 2: 11 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Yesterday, the Holy Spirit of God taught that if we must understand our Father’s Will, then, we must not lean on our understanding. It was a teaching that I enjoyed so much because it humbled me. In our anchor Scripture for this week, God made clear to us that He doesn’t think the way we do and the way He works are often contrary to ours. But because we know His thoughts for us, at all times, are good (Jer. 29: 11), we MUST therefore desire to know what He thinks about every topic in our lives, especially, before taking any steps. However, as our Focus Scripture portends this morning, the only Person Who looks into and understands the mind and thoughts of God is THE...

UNDERSTANDING THE WILL OF GOD: Lean Not On Your Own Understanding

Anchor Scripture: Isaiah 55:8   For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”   Focus Scripture: “ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” – Proverbs 3: 5 Scripture Reference: Numbers 14: 39 - 45 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Yesterday, the Holy Spirit made known to us that what is called the Will of God is God’s plan or Wish for us as His children, and that these cannot be changed by anyone or anything if we stick with Him. Sometimes, we tend to believe in ourselves because of some things such as talents, ability, resources, knowledge and or wisdom. Because of these things and many more, we take decisions without honouring God in our thoughts. At the end, God makes a mess of whatever venture we embarked on. Such was the Israelites in Numbers 14: 39 - 45. As said yesterday, just as each man has a thought or will for themselves, so is God f...

UNDERSTANDING THE WILL OF GOD: His Will Shall Stand

Anchor Scripture: Isaiah 55:8   For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”   Focus Scripture: “ . . . My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” – Isaiah 46: 10 Scripture References: Numbers 22 - 24; Exodus 5: 1 - 2, 14: 1 - 31;  Jonah 1: 1 - 17;  Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! I welcome you, by His grace, through our Lord Jesus Christ, into yet another wonderful week of great learning at His feet. I pray He enlightens our hearts of understanding in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. This week’s topic, UNDERSTANDING THE WILL OF GOD is one that is very vital in our Christian race as a child of God, and it is very vital to our FINISHING STRONG in Him because at the end of times, only what He had decreed shall stand. A lack of understanding of this topic has ended many people’s Christian journeys abruptly, while many others’ lives came to a grinding halt because o...

AVOID CONDEMNATION: Stop Impersonating

Anchor Scripture: Romans 8: 1 “ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  Focus Scripture: “ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness .” – Romans 1: 18 Scripture References: Matthew 7: 21 - 23; John 1: 12 – 13, 3: 1 - 7; Acts 19: 1 – 6, 11 – 20; Romans 1: 18 – 32; 2 Corinthians 13: 4 - 10 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Our God is good and gracious towards us in that He has hidden nothing about Himself from us. Everything we need to know about Him; Who He is, what He did in the past, what He plans to do in the future, how He thinks, His dispositions to various issues and so on, He has revealed to us in His Word, the Holy Bible, and we know His Word is TRUE. The Holy Spirit mentioned on Wednesday that many Christians live on the assumption that they are born-ag...

AVOID CONDEMNATION: Eschew Wicked Devices

Anchor Scripture: Romans 8: 1 “ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the  flesh, but after the Spirit.”  Focus Scripture: “ A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.” – Proverbs 12: 2 Scripture References: Numbers 12: 1 – 15; 16: 1 – 35; 2 Samuel 11: 1 – 22, 12: 1 - 12 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! The common saying among the earthen that “God for all, every man for Himself” smacks of evil intentions towards one’s neighbours. It is a saying that encourages unhealthy competitions for what they call scarce resources amongst them. For a TRUE child of God, no resources can be scarce for God has promised to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory, through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4: 19) and we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us (Philippians 4: 13). A wicked device is a carefully orchestrated plan either ...

AVOID CONDEMNATION: Walk in the Spirit

Anchor Scripture: Romans 8: 1 “ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  Focus Scripture: “ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ” –Galatians 5: 16 Scripture References: John 3: 1 – 8, 16 - 19; Romans 1: 18 – 32, 1 – 14; Galatians 5: 16 – 26; 1 John 2: 15 - 17 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Yesterday, the Holy Spirit of God admonished us to watch the companies we keep because our association with them could make us do things that are contrary to the Kingdom’s choice. And an example was given of Jehoshaphat. May God help us in Jesus name, amen. Today, we are being told to “Walk in the Spirit”. The Holy Spirit was given to us as Guardian to help and keep us in and on the way to the Kingdom. The Holy Spirit is a teacher, meant to teach us right from wrong and He helps us in making the right choices. Most of...

AVOID CONDEMNATION: Watch Your Company

Anchor Scripture: Romans 8: 1 “ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  Focus Scripture: “ Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” – 1 Corinthians 15: 33 Scripture References: Genesis 3: 1 – 8; 2 Chronicles 18: 1 – 4, 28 – 31, 19: 1 – 3, 20: 35 – 37; 2 Corinthians 6: 14 – 18; Revelation 3: 7 - 22 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Yesterday, the Holy Spirit admonished us to Remain at Home in the Lord. Essentially, God is the Home of everyone who believes in Him as espoused by the following Scriptures Proverbs 18: 10 and Acts 17: 28. So, during my growing years still, perhaps of those guys, who constituted themselves into nuisances of some sorts, I noticed that some parents watch the kind of friends that come to visit their children and whenever they saw anyone of questionable character or queer looks, they asked questions and warned ...

AVOID CONDEMNATION: Remain at Home

Anchor Scripture: Romans 8: 1 “ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  Focus Scripture: “ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” – Psalm 91: 1 Scripture References: 1 Kings 13: 11 – 32; Psalm 91: 1 – 16; John 15: 1 – 5; Romans 8: 1 – 14; 1 Peter 5: 6 – 11; Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Growing up in my little village in Southwest Nigeria, I understood some big guys constituted themselves into nuisances of some sort; they were bullies and could beat anyone up at any time and wherever either at the slightest provocation or even at no provocation at all, all they needed was to come up with a flimsy excuse, and the next minute, one gets the beating of his life. But I also discovered that mean as these guys were, they will never go to anyone’s father’s house to beat them up. No, they would st...

WAIT UPON THE LORD: Use His Strength

Anchor Scripture: Isaiah 40: 31 “ But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”  Focus Scripture: “He will keep the feet of his saints . . . ; for by strength shall no man prevail.” – 1 Samuel 2: 9 Scripture References: Exodus 14: 1 – 30; 2 Chronicles 32: 1 – 8; Nehemiah 8: 9 – 12; 1 Samuel 17: 26 – 54; Psalm 18: 2 – 19; 2 Cor. 3: 5, 10: 3 - 5 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! I may not know about you, but for me, what the Holy Spirit did this week is to help me to see what it really means to “wait upon the Lord”, which ordinarily are ways or what we should be doing when we say we are waiting upon the Lord. In today’s lesson, being the last edition of this series, God wants to show us one more thing that waiting upon the Almighty means. Many a time, men stood in God’s way of doing the miraculous in their lives si...

WAIT UPON THE LORD: Let God Have His Way

Anchor Scripture: Isaiah 40: 31 “ But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”  Focus Scripture: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” – Proverbs 14: 12 Scripture References: Job 1: 6 – 22; Matthew 7: 21 – 27; Luke 22: 39 – 46; Philippians 2: 1 - 11 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! One of the facts the Holy Spirit has established in this series this week is that we may not necessarily fast and or pray in waiting upon God (1 Samuel 1: 9), but follow the underlining principles which are the meanings of waiting upon the Lord. Somebody once said that “when we pray, it should be because we wanted God’s answer, not our own answer.” However, the reverse is the case with most Christians today as we always come with a list to God and all we want Him to do when we say w...

WAIT UPON THE LORD: Be Persistent

Anchor Scripture: Isaiah 40:31   "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Focus Scripture:   "And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him."  Isaiah 8:17 Reference Scriptures: 2 Kings 13: 13 - 19; Job 23: 8 - 17; Psalm 123: 1 - 4; Romans 1: 17; Hebrews 13: 5 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! There is this pathetic story in 2 Kings 13: 13 - 19, of Jeroboam, son of Joash, king of Israel, who failed to get total victory over his Syrian enemies, just because he failed to be persistent, even though he waited upon the Lord by believing and looking for the man of God, Elisha. True children always know who their father is in terms of attitude and behaviours. However, not many Christians know and understand God, Whom they always call their Father. This lack of u...
