HOW TO BECOME A TRUE CHILD OF GOD: Submit To The Holy Spirit

Anchor Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6: 18
"And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."

Focus Scripture: "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." - Romans 8:14

Admonition
Greetings from the Throne of Grace.

Yesterday, the need for us to move from the general love of God to the very special love of His was emphasized because His general love is for everyone and it does not make us true children until we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour (John 1: 12).

Genuine acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour do bring about the necessary experiences of having a broken spirit and a contrite heart. These twin experiences bring about genuine repentance which is necessary for the experience of true salvation. This is what many people who claim to be children of God in our churches today lack. That's why there is usually no changes in their lives even after they have "answered" the altar call. That is why the Holy Spirit said to me sometimes ago that many in the church today are stillborn; they were spiritually dead on arrival. They are like the church in Sardis, Revelation 3: 1, of which God says,  "And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead."

As it has been repeatedly drummed in our hears by the Holy Spirit Himself, many self-professing children of God don't have the Holy Spirit. They are believing this terrible erroneous lies of the devil that once they go to church and pray, sing and dance, they are alright in God and they are children of God. Let me tell you the truth, the devil knows the danger you pose to his kingdom if you ever get to be genuinely born-again and become a carrier of the Holy Ghost. That is why he would encourage you to be content with the level at which you are. He does not want you to experience the fullness of the glory of God, and he can only achieve that by keeping you as an ordinary Christian, without the Holy Spirit.

Who is an ordinary Christian? An ordinary Christian is the one in whom the Holy Spirit of God resides not. Such are those said by the Bible to be carnally and walking according to their flesh. And the book of Romans 8: 7 - 8 says that to be carnally minded is to become the enemy of God and such people can never please God. The question arising therefrom is that how do we call ourselves then, the children of Whom we are but enemies? In actual fact, calling myself a child of God when I am not under His tutelage via His Holy Spirit is like taking my chequebook to bank with the aim of cashing out, but without my signature. Brethren, you will agree that if that person will not be arrested, they must have seen horror.

Having the Holy Spirit is as important as listening to Him. James 4: 10 admonishes that we humble ourselves under the arm of God. Humility here is submitting ourselves totally to His direction. We are considered humble by Him when we allow Him to take preeminence, have His way in all matters, no matter how difficult or tasking it might be. I have always said something: "God will not ask you to do an impossible thing, but He will ask you to do a difficult thing." Our desire and readiness to follow His direction at all times is a simple indication that we are His children and He is our Father.

As we close this morning, my Teacher, the Holy Spirit of God, is saying that as long as anyone takes their own decisions and follow them through without involving Him, such should and cannot be called a child of God because as espoused by our Focus Scripture this morning, only those who are led by the Holy Spirit are the children of God. Let me quickly add to that that it is not enough to pray about a matter. What suffices is knowing what God wants, His perfect Will, and doing just that.

Please, pray that God will endow you with His Spirit and the grace to follow Him all the days of your life, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Till tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, please, keep keeping on in Him!

WE MUST FINISH STRONG TOGETHER!
