DEVELOPING THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD: Be Submissive
Anchor Scripture: Hosea 4: 1
"Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth . . . nor knowledge of God in the land."
Focus Scripture: "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, . . . ." - 1 Peter 5:6
Greetings from the Throne of Grace!
Yesterday, the good Lord taught us that we cannot rely on our human brain to know or understand Him. We cannot rely on human principles and philosophies if we must have a good grasp of the knowledge of our Maker. After all, the Bible maintains that "He works in the way we cannot understand."
Today, our call of duty if we must develop and have a good knowledge of God is that we must be submissive. As rightly espoused by our Focus Scripture this morning, we need to humble ourselves in order to know God. Last week, we learnt about debasing ourselves. We have also learned, in the past about be Spirit-filled in order to be free from the influence of the flesh. All these lessons point to a particular truth, that the only obstacle between us and God or the knowledge of Him is ourselves, not even the devil that we make so much noise about and that some Pastors worship by focusing so much attention on. I believe my Teacher will help us to demystify him soon so that you know that the devil has no power anywhere to do you any harm.
Everytime we remind Him who or what we are to OR before people, we stiffle the opportunity to get close to Him and know Him. King Saul was supposed to wait for Samuel to perform a sacrifice unto God, but he considered what the people could do or say to him, he forgot he was anointed of God, not the people. He wanted to remain relevant with the people, so he became irrelevant with and to God Who graciously made him King in the first place. We can only know and understand God when He becomes our only focus, not ourselves. The result was that he lost the throne of Israel because God tore his kingdom.
As we round off this morning, Jesus Christ says in Matthew 5:3 that "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." The person that is poor in Spirit is the one who is ready to learn from God. They are the ones who are ready to accept whatever God says with "stupid" equanimity. The Kingdom of God belongs to these people. They are the ones who will FINISH STRONG.

"the only obstacle between us and God or the knowledge of Him is ourselves, not even the devil"Lack of submission was one of the reasons God regretted making Saul, the King over His people, Israel. And that was one of the main differences between him and David.
"We can only know and understand God when He becomes our only focus, not ourselves."What the Holy Spirit taught us yesterday, that when we come to God, in order to know Him, we MUST come empty is very instructive. Appearing empty before Him is a symbol of our submission, not necessarily our kneeling down.
"Appearing empty before Him is a symbol of our submission"We must come to Him, prepared to accept His verdicts without questioning Him or arguing with Him over anything. It is in doing this that we say we are submissive, and it is then that we may know God and have a good understanding of Who He really is and how He works. All these become important because we must FINISH STRONG. That God says we should "come and reason together" (Isaiah 1: 18) with Him doesn't mean to come and argue with or question Him. It simply means we should come and confess our sins before Him for Him to wash us clean from them.

I want to encourage us to subscribe to this blog so that we get this devotionals as soon as they are published here without me posting it all over the places again. Please, this becomes imperative because of the number of places I had to post to, everyday. I actually intended, to afford me time to attend to other areas of the ministry, to stop posting around. Therefore, as from Monday, 8th June, 2020, only subscribers to this blog will be getting subsequent editions of FINISHING STRONG. Show your love for the Word of God by just clicking on the "SUBSCRIBE" button on top of this or any other post. Do the captcha and remember to check your email to finish the subscription. Thanks, and God bless you richly!
Till tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, please, keep keeping on in Him!
N. B. Please, pray that God will give you a humble spirit to always bring yourself low before Him. And that as you do so, He will reveal Himself to you in Jesus' name. Amen.
