MAKING YOUR LIGHT SHINE: Be Honest In Your Conversations

Image
Anchor Scripture: Matthew 5:16   "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Focus Scripture: "I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost," - Romans 9:1 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Last week, the Holy Spirit reminded us that we are a peculiar people, the Royal Priesthood and a chosen generation (1 Peter 2: 9). Then, He went ahead to admonish us on how to assert our peculiarity, one of which was "making our lights shine." (Mat. 5: 16) "we are a peculiar people, the Royal Priesthood and a chosen generation" As rightly espoused by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, no light is ever hidden (Mat. 5: 14). There is no way a light will be somewhere and people will not notice it except as brought out for us by the Holy Spirit last week, the light has perfectly blended with darkness. But like our Mast...

ASSERTING YOUR PECULIARITY: Flee Unrighteousness

Image
Anchor Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" Focus Scripture: ". . . how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? - Genesis 39:9   Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace. As true children of God and citizens of heaven, our major focus should be that our daily walk, in fact every step we take, brings us closer Home. The Scriptures say that God has put eternity in our hearts. We then have a duty to keep the eternity, with God and His Christ, in our focus if truly, we were to get there. That is all there is about the earthly ministry of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. "our major focus should be that our daily walk, in fact every step we take, brings us closer Home." One fact remains however that eternity is not our church buildings where any...

ASSERTING YOUR PECULIARITY: Be Compassionate

Image
Anchor Scripture: 1 Peter 2: 9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"   Focus Scripture: “ Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: ”  - Proverbs 24: 17 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! The hallmark of Jesus Christ’s love for us was His death on the Cross of Calvary and He made it clear to us that no other form or kind of love is more than this (John 15: 13). The question as to whether this kind of love flows from one pulpit to the other and from one denomination to the other in Christendom is a question for another day. "The hallmark of Jesus Christ’s love for us was His death on the Cross of Calvary"   A true child of God is not expected to rejoice at other people’s calamity, whether such people are Christians (of other deno...

ASSERTING YOUR PECULIARITY: Let Your light Shine

Image
Anchor Scripture: 1 Peter 2: 9 " But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"   Focus Scripture: “ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. ” - Matthew 5: 16 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! One of the peculiarities we imbibe when we become born-again is that we become the light of the world (Matthew 5: 14). In fact, that’s the major reason all things become new (2 Cor. 5: 17) having left behind, the “unfruitful works of darkness” (Eph. 5: 11), because we have had “ redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” (Eph. 1: 7). However, one of the things that the Holy Spirit has always impacted on my heart is that most of us who call ourselves Christians don’t really know...

ASSERTING YOUR PECULIARITY: Self-isolate

Image
Anchor Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9    "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" Focus Scripture: " But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: . . . ." -  Daniel 1:8  Admonition   Greetings from the Throne of Grace. Dr. Myles Munroe of blessed memory, once said, "when the use of something is not known, abuse sets in." This wise saying describes exactly what is happening to many Christians today in that they don't know who they are in Christ, even when someone tells them, it is either they don't believe or they don't know how to bring themselves into the reality of what they were told. However, knowing oneself is the beginning of the journey into one's freedom. "knowing oneself is...

DEVELOPING THE MIND OF GOD: Sacrifice The Many For The One

Image
Anchor Scripture: Amos 3: 3 "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Focus Scripture:  "Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: . . . that I may win Christ, -  Philippians 3:8   Admonition  Greetings from the throne of Grace! Man was created by God for God,  and God alone. The book of Genesis 3 gives the account of how God comes to visit man in the evening. That tells the kind of rapport that ere existed between man and his Maker. When this relationship lasted, God was at center of man's heart. Thus, man had no other desires outside God, his Maker. However, both man and God lost this beautiful relationship when Adam and Eve erred. Man fell and was consequently expelled from his comfort. "Man was created by God for God" With the expulsion from the Garden of Eden, God seized to be at the heart of man's actions, and other desires crept in because man had left the sati...

DEVELOPING THE MIND OF GOD: Watch Your Company

Image
Anchor Scripture: Amos 3: 3 "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Focus Scripture: "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners." - 1 Corinthians 15:33 Admonition  We were taught on Monday to humble ourselves before God because it is in humbling ourselves that we make ourselves teachable and show our readiness to know Him, just as He is. After humbling ourselves, and God begins to reveal Himself to us, we need to watch the company we keep because as rightly put by our Focus Scripture this morning, our good nature could be rubbished by bad friends. I do tell people who call themselves children of God that if your friends before you became born-again are still your friends after your expected newbirth experience, the simple interpretation is that old things have not passed away, but have remained and nothing has become new. The reason for this is in 2 Corinthians 6: 14c which reads thus,  "and what communion hath light with d...

HINDRANCES TO FAITH : Fear

Image
Anchor Scripture:  Hebrews 11: 6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."  Focus Scripture:  “ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, . . . and of a sound mind." -  2 Timothy 1:7 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Have you subscribed yet? Please, remember to subscribe I will like to welcome you specially this morning to this topic in the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, because it is a topic that addresses what most preachers today do for many reasons, best known to them, to "increase your faith or make you believe", or to increase your tempo of prayer,  to make more money from their preaching, and so many other reasons.  I know ministries today whose only trade mark is to instill fear in people's hearts through their teachings. They have turned their congregation into...

HINDRANCES TO FAITH: Making Vows

Image
Anchor Scripture:  Hebrews 11: 6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."  Focus Scripture: “ Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?” – Ecclesiastes 5: 6  Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Have you subscribed yet? Please, remember to subscribe Sometimes, via certain teachings that point to some events in the Bible, men try to impress God and or try to “force the hand of God” to do certain things that ordinarily, He wouldn’t do. However, with deep and serious instructions from my Teacher, the Holy Spirit of God, I have been made to know that such teachings are wrong. One thing that is very clear is that no one can impress God or force him to do anything. Part of the commones...

HINDRANCES TO FAITH: Partial Obedience

Image
Anchor Scripture:  Hebrews 11: 6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."  Focus Scripture:  " And Saul said unto Samuel, Y ea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites."  - 1 Samuel 15: 20 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace!   Have you subscribed yet? Please, remember to subscribe Yesterday, we touched briefly on what constitutes a bad conscience and we went ahead to mention some characteristics of these men who, according to the Bible, "hold the truth in unrighteousness."   However, my teacher, the Holy Spirit, says we need to give a practical example of such behaviours. In 1 Samuel 15, God asked Saul to carry out an assignment as a revenge on the Amalekites for what they did agains...

HINDRANCES TO FAITH: A Bad Conscience

Image
Anchor Scripture: Hebrews 11: 6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."  Focus Scripture: "Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:" - 1 Timothy 1: 19 Admonition Greetings from the Throne of Grace!   Have you subscribed yet? Please, remember to subscribe Welcome to a new series with the Holy Spirit; HINDRANCES TO FAITH. I pray that God will again enlighten our hearts of understanding in His Word with this series in Jesus Christ's name. Amen. The subject of faith is a very popular and almost over-flogged one amongst Christians all over the world. While its importance has been stressed over and over again, it must be said that as a ministry, we don't just emphasize the importance of faith, but mostly what to do to strengthen our faith because without it, FINISHI...

DEVELOPING THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD: Bury Yourself in the Word

Image
Anchor Scripture: Hosea 4: 1 "Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, . . . nor knowledge of God in the land." Focus Scripture: ". . . I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food."    - Job 23: 12 Admonition     In my close to eighteen years in the Ministry, and in all the existing popular ministries where He had used me to teach His Word, one thing that appalls me has always been how little people that call themselves children of God, that claim to love and (be) serving God know about God. Conversely, it has always amazed me how much these people know about the histories of their churches, the founders and pastors who have worked in the church. It made me conclude that the people in the church today are, just maybe, a little better than the Athenians of Apostle Paul's days in Acts 17: 16 - 33, who were serving (an) unknown God ...

DEVELOPING THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD: Be Submissive

Image
Anchor Scripture:  Hosea 4: 1 "Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth . . . nor knowledge of God in the land." Focus Scripture:  " Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, . . . . "  -  1 Peter 5:6 Have you subscribed yet? Please, remember to subscribe Admonition  Greetings from the Throne of Grace! Yesterday, the good Lord taught us that we cannot rely on our human brain to know or understand Him. We cannot rely on human principles and philosophies if we must have a good grasp of the knowledge of our Maker. After all, the Bible maintains that "He works in the way we cannot understand." Today, our call of duty if we must develop and have a good knowledge of God is that we must be submissive. As rightly espoused by our Focus Scripture this morning, we need to humble ourselves in order to know God. Last week,  we learnt abo...
